Literature Review of Breast Thermography
Thermal imaging has been used for early breast cancer detection and risk prediction since the sixties. Examining thermograms for abnormal hyperthermia and hyper-vascularity patterns related to tumor growth is done by comparing images of contralateral breasts. Analysis can be tedious and challenging if the differences are subtle. The advanced computer technology available today can be utilized t...
متن کاملThermography in diagnosis of deep venous thrombosis.
The possibility that subclinical increased heat of the limb may be an early and reliable sign in the diagnosis of deep venous thrombosis is being investigated using thermography. Of the 35 cases studied 17 have had early deep venous thrombosis confirmed on phlebography. Of these, 16 cases have been previously diagnosed using thermography.
متن کاملAdvanced integrated technique in breast cancer thermography.
Thermography is a passive and non-contact imaging technique used extensively in the medical arena, but in relation to breast care, it has not been accepted as being on a par with mammography. This paper proposes the analysis of thermograms with the use of artificial neural networks (ANN) and bio-statistical methods, including regression and receiver operating characteristics (ROC). It is desire...
متن کاملBreast thermography and cancer risk prediction.
Thermography makes a significant contribution to the evaluation of patients suspected of having breast cancer. The obviously abnormal thermogram carries with it a high risk of cancer. This report summarizes the results of patients with questionable or stage Th III thermograms. From approximately 58,000 patients, most of whom had breast complaints, examined between August 1965 and June 1977, the...
